The Davis connecting rod has two bronze bushings and is made from 2024 T4 aircraft alloy aluminum bar stock. Having a bronze bushing in the upper rod eliminates catastrophic failure as occurs in the non-upper bushed factory original. When the unbushed rod eggs out at the top, the piston no longer goes full stroke and you lose some top end, but more importantly you lose compression at idle where you need it. This is where rod wear will drive you crazy trying to maintain a stable idle. Oil holes are located at each end to aid in lubrication of bearing surfaces.
Shown on the left is the factory original rod for the Traxxas 2.5/3.3 and the one on the right is the Davis heavy-duty replacement rod. Notice how the Davis rod is bronze bushed at both ends. Tests to date using the Davis rod show no loss of power, just rock stable output. If you're tired of worn rods causing unstable idle or broken rods causing catastrophic engine failure, then this is definitely what you're looking for.To summarize, the Davis rod stabilizes idle, improves overall performance and promotes longer piston and cylinder life of your engine. The double-bushed heavy-duty construction makes your Traxxas 2.5 or 3.3 engine virtually bulletproof.
