Diesel-Ducted Fans

First dieselized-ducted fan jet in F4 Phantom with Rossi .90 and Byron fan as seen in RCM.

Many modelers ask if a diesel converted engine turns as fast as glow. May we answer this way, “power is power”. As you’ve heard, a Davis Dieselized engine produces more power by turning bigger props or turning helicopter rotors faster. Increasing the power is only part of the benefit. With just the same power there are other benefits.

  1. Half the fuel means less weight and higher performance.
  2. No glow plugs to fail on takeoff or inflight.
  3. Significant noise reduction allows you to fly within reasonable sound level. These entire dieselized-ducted fan systems allow for simpler jet applications.

P.S.: Diesel fuel provides scale jet smell and smoke!
