We didnt invent the CO2 motor, its been around for over 50 years. As with the Davis Diesel converters, Davis brings modeling a simple, reliable, quiet, and light-weight power plant in larger, more usable sizes. For those of you who are unaware of what a CO2 motor can do, here are some facts:
Davis supplies either a converter or complete motor. Models are available for Cox .010, .020, .049, and the latest, a twin cylinder .040 motor. It is hard to fully appreciate the enormous power these quiet little motors put out. Example:
The Cox .049/.051 converted to CO2 produces even more astonishing power. It swings a 12x8 folding prop with authority at 3000 rpm. The .049 will fly anything a geared 05 electric can with ease, while greatly reducing the flying weight. Also available for extended R/C flight is the Jumbo 150 cc on-board tank which allows the .049 to run over 10 ounces with motor. A throttle valve is also used for simple reliable speed control. If all of this sounds great weve saved the best for last: Fuel availability! CO2 can be purchased from the following places: welding supply stores, dry ice suppliers, or rent a 5, 10, or 20lb. cylinder. There are more than twice as many of these outlets than hobby shops. The typical cost to fill a cylinder is about $8.00.
